This trek starts from Jobri (2900 mtrs) 25 kms from Manali and terminates at Chhatru in Lahaul. Considered to be the most beautiful trek around Manali and can be done by anyone reasonable fit. The trail crosses the small villages Prini, Hamta and Sethan. Hamta pass offers a magnificent view of Deo Tibaa 6001 mtrs and Indrasan 6221 mtrs. Hamta Pass Connects two Valleys Kullu Valley to Lahaul Spiti.
Trip Overview:
Day wise program
Day 01: Manali to Jobri(2900m) & Trek to Chhika (3000m) 62hrs. Trek.
25 km from Manali on the left bank by taxi to Jobri, Starting point of trek. Arrive Jobri through Sethan village. 02-hrs walk through alpine forest to the campsite of Chhika. Today’s trek is a 2 hour easy ascent from 2900m to 3000m through thick forest and crossing small bridge. Overnight stay at camp.
Day 02: Chhika – Balu Gera (3400m) 5/6 hrs. trek.
Second day trek is a gradual ascent. While trekking we will be able to see the spectacular Dhauladhar range in the background and Indrasan peak in front. The best part of today’s trek that we have to cross two rivers one at the start just near to Chikka Campsite and other at Jwara Nala. We will have our packed lunch after crossing the Jwara nala. And then climb to Baalu Gera.
Day 03: Balu Gera - Hamta Pass (4268m) Shiya Gohru (4000m) 7 Hrs. trek. A Gradual climb begins, to arrive Bhalu ka gera (bears den). Balu ka Gera that is known for wild flowers, rocks and caves. A further 1; 30 m trail takes you to Hamta pass. From Hamta pass fantastic view of Inderkila, Deo Tibba (6001m) and Indersan (6220m). Which is superb to see? After crossing the Hamta pass, one enters the Lahoul valley. Walk down to the campsite near by the stream. Overnight stay in a camp.
Day 04: Shiya Gorhu - Chhatru (3100m) Rohtang Pass( 3970 mtrs ) - Manali (2040 mtrs ) drive. Shiya Gorhu to chatru via walk 3 hour from chhatru to Manali Drive back over Rohtang pass. Enroute a magnificent view of Hanuman Tibba peak (5990 mtrs).
